Ready or Not, Here We Go.
I am a student ministry expert. I have been working
with students for over 15 years, and over that time Ranada and I have
been involved in the lives of thousands of students, so we should have
it down, right? Well - this Sunday, October 30th, our son Brandon
turns 13. That's right, this week I become the parent of a
teenager. I know what you're thinking. "There's no way that
Ranada could be the parent of a teen. Darrick looks like an old
man, but Ranada?!" Sadly, it's true. And now we get to
practice what we have preached since before he was born. I get to
test my theories on what teens, "really need," and find out what it
takes to raise one of these teen-age creatures. It should be a
wild ride. With God's help, we'll give it our best. I'm sure it
will teach us a lot about what youth ministry really
is.
Something else that's new in my life is this newsletter. I
have tried at times to generate newsletters for our regional youth
leaders, but haven't hit it often. They tend to take a lot of time
and by the time I get them done, they are outdated. So this
e-version is a gift from God for me. Each issue will have info.
about what's happening in our region, resource ideas, and other useful
information. One thing that I would love to include would be
stories about what is happening in the student ministries across our
region. Please keep me posted when significant things happen in

rest of our youth leaders. If you have other ideas for things that
